New applicants must complete an initial application form. This application form requires a declaration of intent to meet all requirements of the ShearNZ programme within 12 months. The applicant must submit the contact details of two referees, or two written references from clients, staff or members of a ShearNZ Support Organisation.

An internal pre-audit checklist must be completed and submitted at the time of application. (Remote assistance will be available from ShearNZ to undertake this pre-audit process)

This pre-audit checklist will identify areas that do not yet meet the ShearNZ criteria. A provisional period of up to 12 months allows time to get systems in place and complete the internal and external audit processes.

Document templates designed for our industry are provided to assist operators to meet all requirements of the ShearNZ programme. Paper and web-based systems, and templates will be provided.

ShearNZ membership fees will apply at the time of application.

Fees

Fees are based on the gross annual turnover of the most recent complete financial year of the applicant's business. If the business has not yet completed a full financial year, an estimated amount is agreed upon for monthly payments and corrected at the beginning of the next financial year.

The fees are payable by direct debit on a monthly basis. The direct payment will be adjusted each year based on the immediate past full financial year. In recognition of efficiencies of auditing and administration for large accredited businesses, a scaled fee structure has been adopted.

The level of fees will be addressed annually at the time of the AGM. The ShearNZ budget for the following year and other relevant industry factors will be considered and fees may be adjusted accordingly.
